From our apartment on the organic farm, Spoleto was ten miles south. Ten miles to the north was Trevi. Spoleto is about 38,000 people and Trevi is about 8,000. Two miles away in San Giacomo was cappuccino and brioche. In Trevi (three roads) there was cappuccino, brioche, and wifi! We would go to Trevi as often as we could so that we could check that things weren’t falling apart at home. One afternoon as we were coming back from visiting another hill town i caught this shot of Trevi from the passenger seat of the car.
Trevi is up on a hill covered with olive groves and is known for its olive oil. On our visits we ambled. We saw its churches and museums, but the biggest impression was of the textures of stone and the color. The pathways were a combination of brick and cobbles. We meandered though the maze of streets enjoying the views we would glimpse over Roman walls, charmed by the drizzle of rain, submerged in pattern and texture from head to foot.
